Warmth of the Sun

Today was another one of those winter days when temps were in the upper 20’s at dawn and then declined steadily to the present level of 11° F. However, we are in last week of a waning February and the power of the sun is growing in intensity every day. So it was that although the temp steadily fell, the sky was clear and the power of the sun was evident as sidewalks and drives melted clear under its warmth. The birds and critters are noticing the impact of the sun as well and like this male Hairy Woodpecker, they are taking the advantage of protected sites to enjoy the warmth of the sun.
