It is amazing what things in life can touch us. They can be large or small, quiet or noisy, warm and cuddly, bright and shiny or even dull. But no matter how the years go by, the effect these wonders have never changes. Such it is with little puppies and for our house in particular, it’s a little Golden Retriever named Millie. She’s only 6 weeks old but by golly she was mighty excited when we stopped out to see her today. At least she was until she’d worn herself out and flopped down for a nap beside her 7 little sisters. In about two weeks we’ll go back out to pick her up and our lives will be forever happier due to her. There will be those puppy days with soiled rugs, missing gloves, chewed up shoe-laces and buried flowers. Which reminds me, we have a ton of things to put away now. However, there will also be the years ahead when those sad eyes and warm heart will exude love, companionship and total loyalty. After all the waiting, it’s hard to believe it’s just two more weeks until our home is filled with the happiness of a new puppy. Still, I don’t think the days will go by fast enough for Millie. Today her wagging oversized tail and those big blue eyes just seemed to cry out, “Take me home”. Hang in there Millie. We’ll be back soon.
