Fallen

It seems like I’m forever trying to catch up these past couple of months. I’d pretty much concentrated on trying to take pictures earlier in the year with the hopes of getting them sorted, tweaked with Lightroom® and then posted in a timely fashion. Well, I’m 1 of 4 on most of the summer and fall captures it seems. Still, I hope you can put up with all of the out-of-season series of captures I’ll be posting today and in the near future.

Although we found Bear Head Lake State Park to be beautiful and fascinating, perfect weather was not to be during our stay. As displayed in todays photo posting, those extended periods of fog, mist and clouds still provided for some interesting atmospheres to shoot in. Along one of the points near the campground, a birch tree had been broken off by the wind and lay exposed in the shoreline waters. The hazy and overcast early morning sky coupled with focused shafts of sunlight breaking through did, however, provide some fleeting landscape opportunities. Such was the case when I was able to capture the contrasts of the birch against the cool background. Further darkening the distant shoreline with an SD Grad filter, the brilliantly colored bark and exposed flesh of the fallen birch made for a colorful shot.
