My home is in the heart of west central Minnesota’s lakes country; lots of natural and deep glacial lakes, wetlands and sloughs, oak and maple trees, rolling hills and abundant wildlife. It’s just a small segment of the beauty around us. Thank you for stopping by to view my web site. I hope you can gain some pleasure and insight from it.
I’m a “baby-boomer”, born in the early-50’s as the newest member of a blended family. We lived in a small South Dakota town until I was 4 and then my dad got back in to farming. From that point on, I was a country boy. It was just after my 8th birthday when we moved from one rented farm to another. This move brought us to a deep valley enriched not only with fertile soil but also with animal and plant life that would continue to intrigue me for the rest of my life. Like most boys I was interested in hunting and other outdoor activities. But shortly after the move, my curiosity in cameras and the desire to capture some of the moments and sites I experienced and be able to share them with others started to settle in. Thus was born my ongoing intrigue in photography.
I didn’t stick with my heart’s desire to be a wildlife photographer. Although I remained interested in photography and took numerous pictures, it wasn’t until the last few years that I told myself, “Why not!” And so, although I haven’t ventured into wildlife photography, I’ve sought to make strong, memorable images. I’ve made efforts to gain technical knowledge, utilize new tools and equipment and to let my understandings of nature guide me to capturing quality images of God’s creations. I don’t believe I will ever get to exactly where I want my photography to be but I am pleased with the progress.
Thank you to those professionals that have shared their knowledge and experience through blogs, books, videos and personal contact. And especially, thanks to those of you who have provided comment, criticism and encouragement.
