Mystified

I couldn’t help but believe that this photo of the female Hairy Woodpecker was the best candidate to follow the previous post of the male. After all, they are a pair. Although taken exactly 3 weeks apart, this shot of the female demonstrates how persistent the woodpeckers are at frequenting an area; especially if food is near by. During the day of this capture, it was cloudy and then it began snowing quite profusely around mid-day. Fortunately, I was able to get a few sharp shots. Darkness wasn’t the issue but rather maintaining focus on the woodpecker as the snow was heavily falling between her and me. As for Mrs. Hairy, well I thought she appeared mystified by the sudden change in weather and millions of snowflakes. Unfortunately, we’ve been in a snow drought this winter and we’re all wondering how to handle this fluffy new white stuff. My bet is she handles it all better than me.
